NEW DELHI - Calling Pakistan and Afghanistan as two sides of the same coin, German Ambassador to India Thomas Matussek on Friday said that Pakistan is the real hub of terrorism.

Appreciating India’s role in Afghanistan, German envoy said that no durable solution to Afghanistan is possible without Indian assistance.

“India is doing a fantastic job in Afghanistan in the field of Education, Infrastructure and Development and no durable solution to Afghanistan is possible without assistance from neighbors including India,” Matussek said. e further said that India’s decision not to send forces to Afghanistan was a wise decision.

“In the geo-political scenario, India’s military presence would have created instability rather than stabilizing Afghanistan,” Matussek said.

Speaking on Afghan President Hamid Karzai’s recent proposal for reconciliation with Taliban, German envoy said only those Taliban should be taken on-board, who have taken up arms due to financial constraints but it will be totally futile to build democratic Afghanistan with hard core Al-Qaeeda like Mullah Omar.

India has been opposing reconciliation with Taliban, and New Delhi believes that there is no ‘good’ Taliban and ‘bad’ Taliban.

However, the German Envoy believes that it is a complicated issue and it is very difficult to draw a thin red line between whom to talk to and whom to be left out. (ANI)
