MUNAMBAM - Kite flying enthusiasts and tourists in large numbers converged on the beachside of Munambam in Kerala to participate in a three-day kite festival.

Located around 40 kilometres off the Kochi city, the skyline at Munambam presented a colourful scenario for this maiden event held on the golden sands with the blue sea in the background between January 22 and 24.

The Rotary Club of Cochin Lords in association with the District Tourist Promotion Council (DTPC) of Ernakulam hosted this first edition of kite fest.

Among the participants were enthusiasts from Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Mangalore.

The tourists not only availed numerous chances to fly kites but also witness the spectacle of kites of all shapes, sizes and colours sent up in the sky by professionals.

“It is so much fun, it’s just so much stress free. You know, there are kites up, you sit and watch. Somebody comes along, they want to go, see smiles on their faces. Everybody goes away happy with kites,” said Bruce, a tourist. (ANI)
