NEW DELHI - Indian intelligence agencies on Friday warned that the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) has purchased paragliders and its members are training to use them for suicide attacks on India.

According to intelligence inputs, fifty paragliders have reportedly been bought from Europe.

The intelligence input, comes just three days ahead of the Republic Day celebrations.

The security agencies are leaving no stone unturned to ensure tight air security around all vital installations.

Security agencies have also conducted mock drills in different areas to prevent any airborne suicide attack by terrorists.

Earlier in the day, the Home Ministry put Air India on high security alert following intelligence reports from Western agencies that terror groups were planning to hijack a flight.

According to the Home Ministry, radars located at strategic locations have been tuned to intercept all low flying objects and authorities are not taking any chances.

Meanwhile, in New Delhi, elaborate air defence measures, including deployment of anti-aircraft guns, have also been taken to check possible intrusion of air space during the Republic Day celebrations. (ANI)
