RAIPUR - Union Home Minister P Chidambaram will review progress of anti-Naxal operations here today.
Chidambaram has convened a meeting of officials of five states to review operational and deployment details.
Key issues include closing of possible escape routes of Naxals between Orissa and Jharkhand and deployment strategy of joint forces on the borders of Naxal-hit states.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh, Jharkhand Director General of Police (DGP) Neyaz Ahmad and the chief secretary of Jharkhand will attend today’s meeting.
The representatives from Orissa and the chiefs of the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) are also expected to attend the meeting.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren has reportedly decided to go slow on anti-Maoist operations after taking charge and this has led to some anxiety, as the Centre is keen that the anti-Naxal operations continue in Jharkhand. (ANI)
