Railway Board holds a meeting on railway safety

NEW DELHI - The Railway Board held a meeting here on rail safety on Wednesday.
It discussed the issue of security of rail passengers and devise solutions to the threat faced from naxals and terrorists.
Interacting with the media, Ajay Kumar Goel, Member, Railway Board, said that interstate police teams would be nominated for a group of trains running through the concerned states so that the crimes get investigated in a better way.
“Special arrangements will be made for the security of the rail construction projects through the mutual agreement between the railways and the state government,” he added.
State-run Indian Railways has one of the largest and busiest rail networks in the world, transporting over 18 million passengers and over two million tonnes of freight everyday. (ANI)
