NEW DELHI - Defence Minister A.K. Antony on Thursday asked the NCC cadets to join the Armed Forces in large numbers.
Speaking to NCC cadets, during his visit to NCC Republic Day Camp, Antony said: “NCC helps in training and moulding our youth to evolve into responsible, disciplined and motivated citizens and leaders. It also inculcates in the youth the basic attributes of unity, discipline, mutual understanding, comradeship and above all a secular outlook.”
The Defence Minister said the camp provides to the cadets a firsthand experience of the ideals of secularism, national unity and making friends, not only from different states of India, but also from other countries.
Antony said: “Given the modern day scenario, our youth must be sensitized to social and community development activities. NCC has always led from the front in contributing towards social causes and generating awareness.”
He said that NCC has made efforts in harnessing the energy of the youth in constructive activities through a number of adventure activities and sports. (ANI)
