State Labour Ministers’ conference to be inaugurated on Jan 22

NEW DELHI - The Ministry of Labour and Employment will organise a conference of the State Labour Ministers here on Friday to discuss various labour related issues.
Union Minister of Labour and Employment Mallikarjun Kharge will preside over the conference.
The conference will discuss the issues concerning the implementation of the Unorganized Workers’ Social Security Act, 2008 including the formulation of rules by the States under the Act, constitution of States Social Security Boards and registration of Unorganized Workers.
The speedy implementation of Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) and its expansion to remaining districts would also be discussed at the conference.
The issues concerning construction workers would also come up for discussion. The need to step up expenditure on welfare schemes for construction workers and need to enhance registration of construction workers in the welfare boards would be impressed upon the States.
The implementation of legislative provisions of prohibiting and regulating Employment of children and National Child Labour Project (NCLP) scheme would also be discussed at the meeting.
Modernization and upgradation of ITIs, restructuring and modernization of employment exchanges and implementation of ESIC schemes in the states have also been included in the agenda for the conference. (ANI)
