Cooperation between Indian, Chinese companies will strengthen bilateral relations: Sharma

BEIJING - Union Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma has said that cooperation between Indian and Chinese companies is instrumental in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

“India attaches high importance to its participation in the Shanghai World Expo at which we will showcase not only its progress in science and technology but also our rich and diverse cultural heritage,” Sharma said during his meeting with the Party Secretary of Shanghai Yu Zhengsheng on Monday.

Both Sharma and Yu Zhengsheng exchanged views about how India and China were coping with the global economic crisis and spoke about both countries being engines of economic growth that was helping the world come out of global economic crisis.

The Minister said that China is an important economic partner for India’s development particularly in the infrastructure sector and added that there are enormous opportunities for Chinese companies in this sector.

Meanwhile, Yu Zhengsheng expressed confidence that Indian pavilion will be one of the highlights of the Expo and it will provide an excellent opportunity for Chinese People to enhance their understanding about India.

He also spoke about business opportunities for Chinese companies in India and also assured full support for Indian business operations in Shanghai. (ANI)
