CBI files chargesheet against Sajjan Kumar in Anti-Sikh riots case

NEW DELHI - The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday filed chargesheets against Congress leader Sajjan Kumar and others in two separate cases relating to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

The chargesheets were filed before Delhi Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja at the Tis Hazari Court complex here.

This is the first time the CBI has chargesheeted Sajjan Kumar.

The CBI chargesheeted Sajjan Kumar and others under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 302, 153-A and 120-B.

The next hearing is scheduled to be held on January 18.

After chargesheets were filed the court transferred all the cases to Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Lokesh Kumar, Karkardooma courts as hearing of all cases under trial relating to the anti-Sikh riots are being held there.

On December 31, 2009, Delhi Lt Governor Tejendra Khanna gave the go -ahead to the CBI to prosecute Kumar. (ANI)
