Pak Army may launch operation in North Waziristan soon: US senator

WASHINGTON - US Senator Joe Lieberman has said that there is a possibility that Pakistan may take some action in the militant stronghold of North Waziristan in the near future.
Appearing on CNN CNN’s “State of the Union” programme, Senator Lieberman said that the Pakistan Army was on the move and there’s a possibility the US would see activity in that volatile northern region.
Senator Lieberman, who had recently visited Pakistan along with Senator John McCain, a former Republican presidential candidate, said that they left Islamabad convinced that Pakistan was fully committed to the war against terrorists.
“Pakistan is a full partner in the war on terrorism. And I think John and I both felt that we have seen a really significant change in Pakistan on this visit,” The Dawn quoted Senator Lieberman, as saying.
“I think they clearly understood that they, the Pakistani people, are the targets of terrorism. They have suffered terribly, including, for instance, attacks at mosques, terrorist attacks at mosques,” he added. (ANI)
