Nepal’s judo team finds India better place to practice

BHOPAL - The Judo team representing Nepal in the upcoming South Asian Games finds India to be more conducive to their preparations than Nepal.
The seven-member-strong judo team is preparing for the 11th South Asian Games, which will be held in Dhaka.
The team is practicing in Bhopal at a camp specially organized for them.
Coaches have said that the practice sessions in the Indian setting would do a world of good to the team.
“It is very difficult to get the medal as it has only been three months of practice, and one (additional) month in India. The conditions in Nepal are not very good. Sometimes politics or any other reason come up. Indian setting is much better for the team to prepare,” said Surya Narayan Shreshta, chief coach of Nepal’s Judo team.
Team members are very upbeat about the opportunities they are getting to prepare for the South Asian Games.
“There is a lot of difference when we are over here for training. The facilities are much better for us to practice, the coaches and instructors are of a high standard, unlike our country,” said Dal Bahadur, a member of Nepalese judo team.
The Nepalese Judo team, after the end of the practice camp, would leave for Dhaka from Bhopal directly.
The Nepal’s team is considered a formidable opponent of the Indian team. (ANI)
