NEW DELHI - Commonwealth Games Organising committee and the Central Bank of India on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding making the bank as the official banking partner for the games.
The MOU was signed between games organising committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi, the bank chairman S Sridhar.
Addressing the media after signing the MOU Kalmadi announced that Central Bank will be the official banking partners for the upcoming Commonwealth Games.
“So the Central Bank, they will be our official banking partners. They will be the partners of all the 70 countries, which will be coming for the Games. All of them will open their accounts with the Central Bank of India,” said Kalmadi.
The pan-India presence of the Central Bank of India with their 3541 branches and 218 extension counters in 27 states and four Union Territories impressed Suresh Kalmadi when he said that this will help to spread the moment of Commonwealth Games to the rural areas.
“Besides this they (bank) will be selling tickets through all their banks all over India and I’m really very happy to associate with them because they have large number of banks in the rural areas. So that will help to spread the movement of Commonwealth Games to the rural areas,” said Kalmadi. (ANI)
