Ruchika’s father to meet Chidambaram

NEW DELHI - Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram has reportedly asked Ruchika Girhotra’s father, Subhash, to meet him regarding the Ruchika’s case.

On Tuesday, Ruchika’s family lawyer had filed two First Information Reports (FIRs) against former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore, who has been charged for allegedly molesting teenager Ruchika, a promising young tennis star in 1990.

Teenager Ruchika killed herself three years after the incident by drinking poison A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has also been filed asking for action to be taken against all those who tried to protect Rathore; including the Sacred Heart School, where Ruchika studied. The school has been asked to give reasons for expelling her.

Rathore was then an Inspector General of Police and the head of the Haryana Lawn Tennis Federation.

CBI Special Magistrate J S Sidhu sentenced 67-year-old Rathore to six months rigorous imprisonment (RI) during an in-camera proceeding and imposed a fine of Rs 1,000, but Rathore got bail immediately. (ANI)
