BANGALORE - Bangalore, the Garden City of India, is gearing up to welcome the New Year.

The entire city is full of lights with colourfully decorated markets and streets lit with sparkling lights.

Shoppers are visiting all prime shopping centres and planning for their New Year parties.

Hotels in Bangalore are also getting ready to usher in 2010.

“People were skeptical about spending so much money not knowing what tomorrow’s going to be, but I think this year, the economy seems to be picking up very positively and, I have seen that trend in the number of bookings that have steadily increased from September,” said Preeti, General Manager (Marketing), Zuri Resorts and Hotels, Bangalore.

All major hotel chains have planned a number of attractive events for their guests.

“The kind of booking that we already have for the New Year’s Eve whether it is our rooms or our dinners. This is going to be the best year in a long time. So, it’s a come back with a vengeance, definitely. It’s far beyond our expectations,” said Santhosh Kutty, General Manager, Taj West End Hotel, Bangalore.

Tickets to almost all New Year Eve events in the city have been sold out and according to the hotel owners there has been a 50 percent raise in the people partying out this year as compared to last year. (ANI)
