SANAA - The civilian unrest that began in the North African republic of Tunisia, has now spread to Yemen, one of the Middle East's most impoverished countries, after engulfing Egypt.

SANAA - A Yemeni court has sentenced fugitive al-Qaeda propagandist Anwar al-Awlaki to ten years in prison for his role in the murder of a French energy contractor.

SANA'A - After four-year archaeological excavations, a Russian team has discovered an ancient city in Socotra Island.

SANA'A - A senior Yemeni government official had told US diplomats that poor security at the country's main store of radioactive products could give terrorists an easy access to dangerous materials, according to the whistleblower website 'Wikileaks'.

SANAA - Yemeni tribal leaders are reportedly refusing to support their government to root out terrorism, claiming that handing over local al-Qaeda operatives and their American born spiritual leader, Anwar al-Awlaki, would be an offence to their customs.
