Two-day “Overseas Employers’ Conference” to begin in Hyderabad tomorrow

HYDERABAD - A two-day “Overseas Employers’ Conference” will be held from tomorrow in Hyderabad to understand the concerns of the foreign employers in the Middle-East and South-East Asian countries employing Indian workers.

The conference will provide a forum for the overseas employers to interact with the Indian Government and the State Government representatives, and put forward their point of view and raise issues related to recruitment of Indian workers for overseas employment.

The broad objectives of the conference include showcasing the schemes and initiatives taken by the Overseas Indian Affairs Ministry and respective State Governments for skill upgradation and pre-departure orientation programmes, and creating awareness about the procedures adopted for promotion of regular migration and preventing irregular migration from India.

The conference spread over two days will have four sessions broadly on policy issues governing emigration for overseas employment, skill development for better employment opportunities overseas, improving the relations between the overseas employer and the worker and promotion of overseas employment for migrant workers.

The conference is being organized by the Overseas Indian Affairs Ministry in partnership with the Andhra Pradesh Government, Indian Council of Overseas Employment (ICOE) and the Overseas Manpower Corporation Limited (OMCAP), Andhra Pradesh.

The conference is likely to be attended by around forty major foreign employers, officials from various Ministries/Departments of the Indian Government and senior level officers from the 15 State Governments from where majority labour outflow takes place from India to foreign countries for overseas employment in semi and low-skilled category and representatives of the concerned foreign governments.
