Four suspected militants arrested in Manipur

IMPHAL - The security forces in Manipur arrested four suspected militants including three women, involved in a bomb attack on an executive engineer of Irrigation and Flood control department.

Addressing the media persons, S. Ibomcha Singh, Manipur Police Service Deputy Sub-Inspector said: “Based on a reliable intelligence input about the presence of KCP-Noyon faction members involved in the grenade attack at the residence of an executive engineer, a raid was carried out.”

“At 6:30 AM, we just got one intelligence input that some criminals who were involved in the explosion of bombs in the residence of an Executive Engineer, Chongtham Ranbir Singh. We Commando West and 116 Battalion BSF conducted a cordon search operations at Heirangoithong. In those cordon search operations we apprehended two persons,” said Singh.

He added that during the operation two suspects including a female were detained for further verification was identified as Laithangbam Ingocha Singh and Khanam Ton alias Lingjel.

After the interrogation it was confirmed that they committed the crime under the command of one Digbijoy Singh. Subsequently two others involved were arrested.

A hand grenade was recovered from the arrested militants. (ANI)
