MELBOURNE - A man, who ran nude into Brisbane floodwaters in exchange for a cigarette, has been fined 150 dollars.

Peter Thomas McLean Ensor, 31, of Paddington, pleaded guilty in the Brisbane Magistrate’s Court to wilfully exposing his genitals at Baroona Rd on January 13 this year.

Police told the court they were patrolling Paddington due to the flood crisis when they saw a naked man entering the floodwaters, and when spoken to, Ensor said his friends had dared him to do it in exchange for a cigarette.

“Did you get the cigarette?” News.com.au quoted magistrate Jim Barbeler as asking.

Ensor replied: “I did. There was no power and we’d had a few drinks…”

Barbeler fined Ensor but did not record a conviction against him.

Outside court, Ensor said he lived nearby and had been drinking after helping sandbag a friend’s business.

“I suppose it was 3 in the morning, there was one cigarette left, and my mates said I could have it if I ran naked down to the water and back,” he said.

“I basically put my foot in the water and then the police siren was on,” he stated. (ANI)
