IITs, IIMs witnessed drastic growth of 54 percent: Moily

BANGALORE - Union Law and Justice Minister M. Veerappa Moily on Tuesday said that apex institutions like the IITs and IIMs, which had expanded only one percent since last 45 years, have witnessed a drastic growth of 54 percent now due to the recommendation of ‘Oversight Committee’ of the Central Government.

Speaking at the 46th Annual Convocation of Bangalore University, Moily stressing that the need of the hour is to create as many centres of excellence as possible so that talent can blossom, opined that India has caged knowledge for centuries, which needs to be unleashed.

Kannada poet, Padmashri Nadoja, Professor K S Nisar Ahmed, eminent scholar Nadoja Dr. M Chidananda Murthy and renowned artist B K S Varma were given Honorary D.Lit degree by the Chancellor of the University Governor H R Bharadwaj on this occasion. (ANI)
