LONDON - A Cardiff builder has been ranked the world number one sea angler.

To mark the ‘fantastic achievement, the Welsh Federation of Sea Anglers presented Joe Arch with a trophy.

But he hardly had time to give the award pride of place in his cabinet before heading off to another competition in Tenerife.

Helen Pearce of the federation called him a “remarkable guy” and “a great ambassador for our sport.”

“He is an inspiration to all competitive sea anglers aspiring to be the best in the world and proof that with a lot of hard work and dedication you can achieve your dreams,” the BBC quoted her as saying.

Arch was been competing as a member of the Welsh team for several years-keeping his place by qualifying in annual competitions.

He also had to rise through the ranking by earning points-and top positions-in international competitions.

He has been ranked second in the world for the last three years before finally achieving the number one spot after finishing in the top 10 with Greys Welsh Team in a competition in South Africa in November. (ANI)
