Floriculture becomes popular in Tripura

TRIPURA - Tripura, known for its pineapple and rubber cultivation, is making a mark in the field of floriculture.

Chittaranjan, a floriculturist said: “We have found that growing flowers is more beneficial than growing vegetables because flower is a more profitable item.

I am into floriculture for the last five years. Initially we got the saplings at subsidized rates from the government. Later, we produced them on our own,”

The people are drawing inspiration from the success of the floriculture business in neighbhouring states such as Mizoram, Nagaland and Meghalaya.

Deepak , a floriculturist said L”I am earning well by doing floriculture and can take care of my family well. Now like me, many other unemployed youths are doing floriculture.”(ANI)
