PESHAWAR - At least nine people were killed and over a dozen others injured after an explosive-laden car went off in Pakistan’s northwestern city of Peshawar on Wednesday.

The blast took place in front of an old police station in Budhbir town of Peshawar, SAMAA TV reports.

Rescue teams rushed to the scene and transferred the dead and injured people to government-run hospitals, where an emergency had been declared.

Sources said the police station was the main target of the car bomber. It is feared that the death toll could rise.

According to reports, the blast caused damages to several vehicles, apart from ten shops and buildings near the police station.

Meanwhile, police have cordoned off the area and started an investigation in this regard. (ANI)
