NEW DELHI - Utsav Sharma, who had attacked Aarushi’s father Rajesh Talwar inside the Ghaziabad court premises, was on Wednesday remanded to judicial custody till February 8.

Sharma, who was produced before Judge Preeti Singh this morning, attacked Talwar with a cleaver causing deep cuts on his face as he came out of the court here on Tuesday after filing a petition before Singh challenging the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)’s closure report in the Aarushi murder case and demanding a fresh probe.

Talwar, who was first rushed to a nearby hospital, was later shifted to Apollo Hospital where doctors have described his condition as stable.

Sharma told the police that he was upset with the slow progress in the Aarushi case. You can see what kind of work the court is doing. From police, the case went to CBI and the CBI has filed the closure report,” he added.

Sharma’s mother, Indira Sharma, a professor of psychiatry in Banaras Hindu University (BHU), claimed her son is mentally ill and is on medication.

Aarushi, 14, was found murdered under mysterious circumstances in her parents’ Jalvayu Vihar apartment in Noida, May 16, 2008.

Their domestic help Hemraj’s body was found on the flat’s terrace a day later. (ANI)
