Seven militants arrested in Imphal

IMPHAL - Manipur police have arrested seven militants along with huge cache of arms and ammunitions here.

S. Ibomcha Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police said the arrested militants were actively involved in the planting of improvised explosive devices in the Telepati region.

The arrested militants have been identified as Thoudam Arun Singh, Ksh. Ashalata Devi, Shirom Shanta, Shirom Hemanta, Nithojam Tombe, Kenedy and Bhramachari Mayu Tombou Sharma.

Two country-made 9mm pistols and six live rounds of ammunition and two magazines have also been recovered.

Various militant outfits are active in Manipur such as the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), the Military Council faction of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP-MC), the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and the Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA). (ANI)
