LONDON - Princess Diana’s niece Lady Amelia Spencer, 18, has been charged with assaulting a man on crutches during a row in a burger queue, it has emerged.

Spencer apparently launched a volley of abuses followed by assault in the small hours of the morning near her home in Cape Town, reports the Daily Mail.

The daughter of Diana’s brother Charles, Earl Spencer, allegedly saw red when a taxi cut in front of her at a McDonald’s drive-through.

According to a passenger in the cab, Ricci Cinti, the heiress jumped out of her car and ’smacked’ the taxi before allegedly hurling drunken four-letter abuse.

Cinti, who was on crutches following a football injury, was then pulled out of the car and knocked to the ground by a male friend of the teen, he said.e was concussed and had a swollen jaw, and was taken to hospital for a brain scan.

Before the duo sped off, witness noted her licence plate number using which, the South African police confirmed they had tracked her down and brought her in for questioning and fingerprinting before they charged her with one count of common assault.

Yesterday Earl Spencer, 46, claimed his daughter was merely acting in self-defence after being bruised in the melee at about 2.30am on Wednesday, December 29.

And now, more than two weeks later, he said Lady Amelia was pressing charges against Cinti. (ANI)
