NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The citizens in various states of India are gearing up to celebrate the festive occasion of Makar Sankranti but the security experts are worried that terrorist outfits may use this opportunity to disrupt peace and create trouble in selected states of the country. That explains why the Ministry of Home Affairs has announced a nation-wide terror alert and advised the state governments to enhance the level of security during this festive occasion. In Southern states, Pongal is being celebrated and in Western states it is the time for Lohri. All these celebrations provide the miscreant terrorist outfits, the perfect opportunity to strike at the vulnerable places, feels MHA.

In its general advisory, the Ministry of Home Affairs has instructed the state governments to step up vigil at the crowded places since the attacks are usually carried out at such places with the aim of causing injury and death to the maximum number of people. The security level in the leading metros including the capital of India, New Delhi has been beefed up thereafter. Extra forces have been deployed at various railway stations and airports to foil any possible militant assault during Makar Sankranti.

In another similar development, the security at Allahabad Junction and adjacent stations of the Indian railway has also been increased. It is natural that during Makar Sankranti, a lot of pilgrims will reach Allahabad by train for taking the holy dip. At Allahabad station, lots of GRP and RPF personnel have been deployed. The administration have also arranged for extra Railway Protection Special Force personnel. CCTV cameras have also been installed at select places of the station.
