JAIPUR - Security on board the Palace on Wheels, India’s luxurious tourist train, has been beefed up following intelligence inputs indicated a possible terror threat.

Railway security forces have put across a comprehensive protection plan for the train across the route from New Delhi to various cities of Rajasthan, as well as Agra.

“Even before the train arrives at the station, the security personnel patrol the railway tracks. After the train arrives, sniffer dogs check it and anti-sabotage check is conducted. A security ring is established around the train till the passengers de-board. After that the train is locked and under the surveillance of the guards,” said Satyam Mani Tiwari, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Government Railway Police, Jodhpur District.

Railway officials said the train is running full capacity and there is no fear among the passengers.

“115 tourists from across the globe have proved that the security is adequate in this project. We are getting complete support from the Railway Protection Force,” said Pradeep Bohra, General Manager of Palace on Wheels Train.

The luxury train makes a seven-day journey from New Delhi and halts at Jaipur, Sawai Madhopur, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bharatpur and Agra before going back to Delhi. (ANI)
