PLA militant arrested in Imphal

IMPHAL - Security forces arrested a wanted militant of the People’s Liberation army (PLA) here on Tuesday.

Acting on a tip, the Manipur police along with 39 Assam Rifles apprehended the militant from a rented accommodation.

“Following that information, 39 Assam Rifles and police commandos jointly carried out an operation. From a rented house we have apprehended Th. Subhaschandra alias Sanju alias Bonney,” said A. K. Jhalajit Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police, Imphal.

Security forces also recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from various places on the disclosures by the arrested militant.

Officials said they have recovered two AK-47 assault rifles with two magazines and 20 live rounds, two 9mm pistols with several live bullets, along with other materials in raids at various hideouts.

In Manipur various militant outfits reported to be active include the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), the Military Council faction of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP-MC), the People’s United Liberation Front (PULF), the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), and the Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA).
