HANOI - U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived in Vietnamese capital Hanoi on Saturday for the Association of South East Asia Nations (ASEAN) Summit, even as the United States gets set to join the East Asia Summit group.

An invitation was extended to the U.S. on behalf of members of the East Asia Summit, even though it is not an official member of the 10-nation ASEAN.

Both the U.S. and Russia would receive formal invitations to join the ASEAN on Saturday, allowing them official membership in 2011.

Referring to President Barrack Obama’s visit to India, Clinton said he is looking forward to his visit.

“Oh! President Obama and Mrs. Obama are so looking forward to being in India,” she said.
