LONDON - Files recently made public in the National Archives revealed a regular day in the life of Adolf Hitler.

According to SS Schutze Obernigg, who escaped Nazis at 19, the Fuhrer worked until 10pm, dined at 1.30am and went to bed at 4am.

He would rise at 10am and have his breakfast at 11am - usually a humble meal of bread and marmalade.

Although mostly calm and mild-mannered, Hitler could instantly fly into a rage and bang tables. He would also flip out if anyone dared to look at him.

“He’s mild on personal contact but apt to bang tables and shout during conferences,” The Mirror quoted Obernigg as saying.

Hitler would go for walks “in a fairly leisurely manner” but “cannot bear to feel himself watched - if he sees an SS man following him he shouts ‘If you are frightened, go and guard yourself’.”

His afternoon visitors included celebrities, his doctor and his barber, who looked “like a circus clown”.

Hitler’s unmarried secretary, who was “about 24 and attractive” was offlimits to anyone else. An officer who accosted her was kicked out of Obersalzberg within a day. (ANI)
