LONDON - The ex-boyfriend of Indian-origin teen Asha Muneer, who was stabbed to death in Reading, UK, has been jailed for life with a 20-year minimum term for the “deliberate execution”.

A-level student Asha’s 19-year-old ex-boyfriend Gulamyr Akhter had stabbed her to death in January.

She had broken up with Gulamyr in July 2009.

In the days leading up to Asha’s murder, Gulamyr had bombarded her with over 600 calls and texts.

One read: “I wish you go through hell and you die.”

During the trial, Gulamyr denied murdering her and claimed that he was “devastated” by her death, but the Reading Crown Court found him guilty in its verdict.

“This was nothing less than a deliberate execution. This was a brutal attack with a knife which you carried with you to kill her,” the Daily Express quoted Judge Zoe Smith, as saying.

Asha was stabbed in the head and neck when she was walking home after leaving the Laura Ashley shop where she worked part-time.

The 18-year-old’s body was found on a secluded path next to the River Kennet. A post-mortem had revealed 25 knife wounds. (ANI)
