THIRUVANANTHAPURAM - Former Union minister and Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said there was the “risk” of Pakistan raising the Kashmir issue again in the United Nations General Assembly.

“You know they have raised it in the General Assembly opening speech the general debate and therefore the risk of raising it again is certainly very much present,” said Tharoor on Wednesday.

He further talked about IPL issue asking Rendezvous Sports World-led consortium members to compromise and sort out issues as directed by the BCCI.

“Whatever happened in my own case, the enthusiasm of the young people of Kerala for a IPL cricket team in Kerala, cannot be doubted,” said Tharoor.

Tharoor said he had talked to both sides and requested them to sort out issues.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had recently served a notice to Kochi IPL franchisee asking them to resolve their disputes.

The State’s youth view the IPL Kochi team as a team of Keralites. t will be betrayal if IPL Kochi was lost, he said.

Rendezvous Sports World-led consortium had won the bid for the Kochi team for rupees 1,500 crore early this year.

Controversy had dogged the new team following a spat between Tharoor and former IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi over the ownership of Rendezvous Sports World.

On October 3, Tharoor had said his wife Sunanda Pushkar had no connection with the Kochi IPL team after she returned her stakes in the RSW-led consortium a few months ago.
