NEW DELHI - The United States has applauded India’s election to the United Nations Security Council as a non-permanent member.

Washington also hoped that New Delhi would play a constructive role in resolving key global issues, said P J Crowley, State Department spokesman, during a news conference in Washington on Wednesday evening.

In reply to a query asking if the US would be endorsing India’s bid for a permanent UNSC seat during the visit of US President Barack Obama to New Delhi in November, the spokesman said the Obama Administration is committed to the reform of the UN and its Security Council. (ANI)
