PARIS - A French magistrate will probe allegations that a company set up with President Nicolas Sarkozy’s approval channelled money from arms deal commissions to fund political activities in France.

The probe will also examine allegations of the kickbacks being linked to Pakistan.

The investigation is being undertaken on the basis of a suit lodged by relatives of French engineers killed in a 2002 Karachi bombing, the Dawn reports.

Investigating magistrate Renaud van Ruymbeke will undertake the probe, the paper quoted sources in Paris, as saying.(ANI)
