AG says terror alert an ‘accumulation of evidence’

WASHINGTON — Attorney General Eric Holder says an accumulation of evidence led the State Department to issue an advisory over the weekend urging Americans to use caution when traveling in Europe.

Holder says the advisory is not an admonition to people not to travel to Europe but rather to be cautious when using mass transit and when in marketplaces.

The attorney general says the intelligence that precipitated the advisory is all directed at Europe, though Holder said the government is mindful that the threat to the United States is ongoing.

Holder made the comments in response to a question at a news conference that was on a subject unrelated to terrorism.
