New Coast Guard station in Gujarat

GANDHINAGAR - The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Saturday formally commissioned the coast guard station at Veraval here for strengthening joint coastal patrolling off the Gujarat and Maharashtra coast, a statement said.

ICG Director General Vice Admiral Anil Chopra commissioned the new station.

“The aim is to intensify the close coast surveillance mechanism to prevent smuggling of arms, ammunition and explosives and infiltration of anti-national elements,” the statement said.

The station will undertake joint coastal patrol along with police, customs and fisheries department to thwart any security threat, the release said.
