Official: NJ sex-tape student in apparent suicide

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — Authorities say a New Jersey college student who was allegedly recorded surreptitiously having sex in his dorm room apparently killed himself.

A law enforcement official says the 18-year-old man’s driver’s license and Rutgers University ID were found in a wallet left on the George Washington Bridge on Sept. 22 after two witnesses saw the person jump from the structure. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because no body has been recovered.

Two Rutgers students have been charged with illegally taping the man having sex and posting the images on the Internet. Authorities allege two encounters were taped.

The Star-Ledger of Newark reported Wednesday that a lawyer for the alleged victim confirmed the Ridgewood native was a roommate of one of the defendants.
