NEW YORK - Former US President Bill Clinton raised many eyebrows at the Great Sports Legends Dinner on Monday night when he made an innocent but ill-advised comment about golf hottie Annika Sorenstam before a crowd at the Waldorf-Astoria.

Clinton was the surprise guest of pharmaceuticals mogul Stewart Rahr, who was the evening’s sponsoring presenter, and made some news of his own.

The guests at the event included Christie Brinkley and baseball legend Willie Mays.

At first Clinton’s gift as an orator failed him when he took the stage to pay tribute to his pal Rahr.

“I’ve never met a guy who enjoyed giving his money away as much as Stewart Rahr,” the New York Daily News quoted him as saying,

Later, Clinton began talking about the evening’s honorees, which included beautiful blond golf sensation Sorenstam.

When Clinton remarked, “I’ve dreamed of getting a lesson from Annika Sorenstam,” the crowd interpreted the comment as a double entendre, not the compliment it presumably was meant to be.

The nervous laughter that ensued had Clinton quickly moving on to the next honoree. (ANI)
