Dad who stormed bus apologizes for actions

LAKE MARY, Fla. — A central Florida father who stormed onto a school bus and threatened children because his 13-year-old disabled daughter had been bullied apologized to other students on the bus “who had nothing to do with this.”

James Willie Jones appeared on ABC’s “Good Morning America” Tuesday. He also said parents shouldn’t react the way he did.

He has a news conference scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Jones told The Associated Press in a statement Monday that he’s sorry for his “inappropriate use of language” and for the way he handled the situation. But he says his daughter suffers from cerebral palsy and he “could not stand by and watch her suffer.”

Jones was charged last week with disorderly conduct and disturbing a school function for the Sept. 3 incident.
