BEIRUT - Israeli army fired gun shots on Lebanese soldiers Monday night along the border, media reports said.

“Machine gun shots were heard coming from the Palestinian occupied territories towards the South of Lebanon, specifically towards Alma Shaab and Zheira villages-Hafafi Hill located in the Western sector,” Xinhua said, citing local media reports.

Hezbollah TV channel Al Manar reported that Israeli Defence Force (IDF) soldiers fired shots on a Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) unit that was fortifying its position near the town of Duheira, only metres away from the borders.

Local news site Now Lebanon reported that the LAF put its units near the border town of Duheira on alert after an IDF border fired shots.

The LAF also notified UN Interim Forces In Lebanon (UNIFIL) which then contacted its units in the area.
