On somber Lockerbie anniversary, a joyous event

TRENTON, N.J. — It’s the one-year anniversary of the release of the Pan Am Flight 103 bomber. But one couple is more focused on the love they found than on the man who took so much from their families.

Sonia Stratis and Chris Tedeschi are holding their wedding rehearsal Friday and plan to marry this weekend in Montvale, N.J.

Stratis lost her father in the 1988 bombing over the Scottish town of Lockerbie. Tedeschi’s father had married a Lockerbie widow.

Stratis and Tedeschi met at a memorial gathering and say they instantly fell in love.

Convicted bomber Abdel Baset Al-Megrahi was freed a year ago from a Scottish prison on humanitarian grounds. New Jersey’s two senators renewed calls Friday for more details about his release.
