Woman, 95, dies after Vegas purse snatch attempt

LAS VEGAS — Authorities say a 95-year-old Las Vegas woman has died after being attacked in a botched purse-snatching outside a supermarket.

The Clark County coroner said Tuesday that Bertha S. Meier died Monday of medical complications and a broken hip after being hospitalized for three weeks.

The case has been ruled a homicide.

Meier was hurt in a July 26 attack in the parking lot of a Smith’s Food and Drug store in northwest Las Vegas.

Police say they’re looking for the woman who attacked Meier in a failed bid to take her purse.

Police have released images of a dark blue getaway vehicle seen on store surveillance videotapes and are seeking the female driver.
