Correction: Japan apology story

TOKYO — In an Aug. 10 story about Japan’s prime minister apologizing for the country’s 1910-1945 colonial rule of Korea, The Associated Press erroneously cited a South Korean presidential spokesman as saying Seoul had accepted the apology. President Lee Myung-bak told Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan during a telephone conversation that he “took note” of the statement but neither he nor his spokesman said Seoul “accepted” the Japanese apology.
