LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM (GaeaTimes.com)- A dazzling display of meteors is expected to lighten up the night sky starting on Thursday as the annual Perseid meteor shower would ensure that the sky-gazers have a time of their life. Sky-gazers are waiting eagerly to catch a glimpse of the fascinating show as weather officials have predicted a clear sky which means that this year there would not be much hindrance to the visibility of the celestial shower.

Experts have revealed that as the moon is going to be in the ‘new phase’ and the sky is likely to remain clear, the August 2010 Perseid meteor shower is expected to be one of the very bests in recent times. This has surely come as a great news for the sky-gazers, more so owing to the fact that last year they were left rather disheartened after clouds present in the sky had played a spoilt sport. However, this year the Met officials have said that on Thursday night when the meteor shower would start, the sky would be devoid of any moonlight as well as clouds which otherwise might have ruined the view.

It has been advised that if one intends to take a really closer look at the dazzling show of shooting stars then the city lights should be avoided and one should head towards dark and open skies of the countryside where the August 2010 Perseid meteor shower would be at its best. The Perseid meteor shower makes its presence felt in the month of August each year when the Earth moves through the comet Swift-Tuttle’s tail.
