IMPHAL - Shopkeepers in Manipur closed their establishments on Thursday in protest against militants, after a bomb was found in a market.

The bomb was left inside a pharmacy in the Khwairamband Market.

Ranbir, the owner, who discovered the poly bag containing the explosive, said there was also a piece of paper in it that read “Warning Ranbir, the bag before your shop contains a bomb”.

The bomb disposal squad, however, defused the explosive.

“The shop was located in the interior part, at a certain place at Khwairamband Market, where thousands of people always gather. What is their intention of depositing a bomb in such a crowded bazaar? Which organisation is responsible for this? If they have a misunderstanding, they could have negotiated. Such type of acts of depositing a bomb at such a crowded place is a threat to the people,” claimed Ratesana Devi, a shopkeeper.

Investigations are underway to trace the persons who planted the bomb. (ANI)
