Zimbabwe PM fires 4 ministers after review

HARARE, Zimbabwe — Zimbabwe’s prime minister says he has fired four top Cabinet ministers who failed a performance review after 16 months of troubled power sharing.

Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai says that among those fired is a politician from his own party who shared the police ministry with an official from President Robert Mugabe’s ZANU-PF party.

At a news conference Wednesday, Tsvangirai also announced the dismissal of the energy minister.

Zimbabwe’s power-sharing government was forged last year as a compromise after disputed national elections in 2008.
