JAIPUR - The general life in Rajasthan has been badly hit due to prevailing heat conditions and the mercury touching 46 degree Celsius.

Most of the city’s shops and business units are witnessing a lull in their business, as customers avoid visiting market places due to severe heat.

“It has been two hours since I have opened my store but because of the heat no customer has entered the shop. After the rains, which fell, few days ago did bring in some relief but the customers come only if the weather is cool,” said Amar Yadav, a garment shop owner.

“Since it is so hot till five and six in the evening, nobody feels like leaving their homes, so we don’t get customers in our shop,” Yadav added.

Many local business men are lamenting the fact that the heat is causing then heavy losses.

“The hot weather has brought a lot of difference in the business. Sales have gone down by half and if things remain like this then we fear it will further go down to one fourth,” said Madanlal Yadav, an automobile lubricant dealer.

Daily wage labourers are also distressed due to lack of employment opportunities in such a harsh weather.

“We used to earn around two to three hundred rupees earlier but now that we are not getting any work it has gone down to 50 rupees. Day before yesterday and yesterday I had to sit idle. So it has become very difficult for us due to the weather,” said Prabhudayal, a labourer.

The only hope for relief is the arrival of monsoon rains, which has already hit many parts of the country.

The weather office says the monsoon will take another two weeks to hit the state. (ANI)
