Imphal / Kohima, June 19 (ANI): The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were escorting trucks into Manipur since Saturday morning to clear the economic blockade being observed by Naga student groups.

The six battalions of the CRPF deputed by the Union Home Ministry to clear the blocked landed in Imphal on Friday evening.

A womens’ company was also airlifted from Delhi to Manipur on Friday.

On Friday, Naga student groups decided to “temporarily” withdraw the 68-day long blockade of national highways to Manipur.

The All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur, took the decision after a meeting of various Naga social groups in Kohima.

However, a section of the Naga groups were still continuing with their protests and creating hurdles for safe transportation.

With the CRPF escorting the trucks, the students were under pressure to clear the blockade permanently. (ANI)
