Heavy rains inundate Manipur

IMPHAL - Incessant rainfall has resulted in massive overflow from the reservoir of Singda dam in Manipur.

Due to the floods transportation has become a problem in Imphal, and areas such as Wahengbam Leikai, Nagamapal and Uripok have been isolated.

Lawmaker W Brajabidhu Singh said heavy rains had caused immense hardship the locals in several neighborhoods.

“It was sudden increase in water volume, may be in Singda and surrounding area and there was also heavy raining during that time. So bridges collapsed and even the… have been flooded and even the essential items are being damaged by the flood,” said Brajabidhu Singh.

Further he said that essential items are being provided to the flood victims.

“We are trying our best level to provide essential items to the affected families, and some rehabilitation camps are being opened in the affected areas,” noted Brajabidhu Singh.

In many areas people have left their houses and moved to safer places. (ANI)
