Summary Box: Coke’s Dr Pepper deal

THE DEAL: The Coca-Cola Co. will pay $715 million to Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc. for the rights to distribute certain drinks in the U.S. and Canada. The deal makes Coke the largest distributor of Dr Pepper drinks.

THE DRINKS: Under the terms of the deal, Coca-Cola will distribute Dr Pepper and Canada Dry in the U.S. It will distribute Canada Dry, C’ Plus and Schweppes in Canada.

THE PURPOSE: The deal lets Coca-Cola keep business of its largest bottler, Coca-Cola Enterprises, which Coca-Cola is acquiring.
